Why I want to work at voyis/position
Why Voyis?
- Engineering team moves quickly and works as a tight‑knit unit.
- Capstone, Robarts, Nuvation, Waterloo, Brickeye, Envision
- Teamwork ensures productivity – questions, relied upon, responsibilities, enjoyable
- Learn and contribute to meetings across disciplines
- Innovation and creating new products that don’t exist align with my drive to push boundaries
- Different industries learning – offshore energy, ocean science, defense, and infrastructure
- Particularly keen to learn ocean, and help defend canadians for what we stand for
Why Position?
- Experience across mech, elec, firm -> mech is my passion and best skill -> ability to hyperfocus and spatially think of unique designs if needed
- MRI bed -> I like designing for environments that cause issues, I genuinely like solving problems that are hard -> critical thinking, and learning
- I want a position -> effectively contribute and ability to exceed expectations -> while still learning
- Mech design skills, concept design, component sourcing, DFM for small production, testing, and iterating
- Deep SolidWorks Experience, used it in every one of my projects
- FEA is mostly in ansys – Capstone, MRI bed for material yielding. -> Learn to expert in depth sims
- Omit: GD&T -> Understand the basics -> Reading GD&T for mechanical design (333 pages)
- Prototypes: Capstone, Interactive robot, Brickeye, EnvisionSQ
- Collaborated with UofC and UW robohub -> Managers and vets -> even vendors to get/negotiate pricingBusiness product requirements into successful designs:
- EnvisionSQ: market research airflow, determined size for the air filter, and all competitor removal tech, features, and testing standards.
- Robarts: Speed, simplicity, size, UI interface
- Capstone: Strength, Range of Motion, Speed/Torque, Ease of assembly/maintenance
- Brickeye: Solar shield (aesthetics and simple), foam packaging (cost), DisplayNode (timing, aesthetics)
- Always deliver the highest quality product I can
- Love to form a bond with my teammates, and I want to make work an environment everyone wants to be in.
- Purchasing from vendors:
- Integrate electronics into mechanical designs
- Do not have direct experience with subsea design but have done some research
